News week of 1-24-2024

1/25/2024 - Ryan stopped by for his daily visit and he thinks the Lions will win by 65.  Go Lions.  He also visited Dana in Turning Brook.  I gave Ryan a gift of a gnome, pens, some candy and a magnetic planner.   The gnome looks a little like Ryan.  Please keep him in your prayers.
1/25/2024 - The "Detroit Lions Legends," vs "Alpena DARE All-Stars" Basketball game is upcoming in April on Friday the 26th, 7:00 P.M.  at the Thunder Bay Junior High School Gym.   We have tickets for the event so stop by and grab one or two.  The proceeds will help the D.A.R.E. program.

1/25/2024 - The Veterans of Alpena gathered this morning to talk about life within our community.  If you are a veteran, please come and join us on the fourth Thursday of the month, 9:00 AM at the Art in the Loft.
1/25/2024 - Thanks to Joanne for her service, sacrifice and light.   The gift given to Joanne is a miniature Stain Glass showing a lighthouse giving light to the world.
1/25/2024 - Received a wonderful confirmation photo from Ron Grosinsky featuring his Aunt Elsie.  He was wondering if anyone could date this photo (approximately).   Our history is a celebration of the faith and I rejoice in our past as we look forward to God's future.

1/23/2024 – Was invited to offer a prayer for the Full Board meeting of the County Commissioners today. I shared with them this thought from Tom Brokaw (former NBC anchor), "It's easy to make a buck. It's a lot tougher to make a difference." 1/20/2024 – The Pasta night was a celebration this evening. Thanks to the Stewardship Committee for their efforts in making the pasta dishes. Thanks to everyone who came to celebrate a very special meal.

1/20/2024 – Was invited to speak at the Girl Scout “Silver Award” event honoring Emma & Lucy. Great exhibit at Besser Museum that is open until the end of March. Come and celebrate these leaders, our Girl Scout program (that began in the 1930s) and our connections at St Paul.
1/19/2024 – Ryan stopped by for his daily visit and he was sporting a new winter jacket. He is going to a concert on Saturday and then he is hoping that the Lions win on Sunday. Please keep him in your prayers.
1/19/2024 – I was part of a celebration of ministry and sacrifice today with the servant leaders who give of themselves in the office throughout the week. These leaders make the congregation better, stronger, and more informed. Please join with me in giving thanks/applauding the efforts of Joanne, Linda, Joan, Sue and Barb (absent).
1/19/2024 – Journeyed to Bolenz Jewelry today to have them inspect a chalice that needed some help/repairs. I spoke with Ava about my concerns, and she took the chalice to the back room for repairs.   About 10 minutes later it was repaired and returned at no cost. A huge shout out to Ava for her customer service and to Derek Vanvlerah for his technical expertise in restoring the chalice. I celebrate being part of this wonderful community of Alpena.
